Windows CE 6.0 BSP supports SODIMM-sized PXA270 module

Strategic Test is shipping a Windows CE 6.0 BSP (board support package) for the Intel/Marvell PXA270 processor. The BSP is available as part of the Triton Development Kit-3, based on the company's tiny, SODIMM-sized Triton-270 embedded processor module, the company says.

According to Strategic Test, the Kit-3 includes the 2.6 x 1.2 x 0.16-inch Triton-270 module, based on a 520MHz PXA270 processor and equipped with 64MB SDRAM and 32MB flash memory, plus a 6 x 4-inch carrier board that provides the following functions and connectors:

CompactFlash Type II socket
SD/MMC socket
UCB1400 codec
3x RS232
USB device/host
VGA and LCD connectors
Touchscreen controller
10/100 Mbps Ethernet
JTAG port

The Triton-270 module, meanwhile, uses a 200-pin DIMM connector to bring out all of the PXA270's internal signals, which are said to include:

Integrated LCD controller for direct connection to displays
PCMCIA interface
Bluetooth UART
Baseband/Multimedia interface
USB 2.0 "On the Go" interface
Memory Stick controller
MMC/SD/SDIC interface
I2S and AC'97 interfaces
Three SSP and three Asynch serial interfaces
Keypad interface
GPIO and four PWN interfaces

The kit runs from 8 to 24 VDC power, and the onboard power supply includes transient protection "suitable for automotive applications" according to Strategic Test.

The Kit-3 with the Windows CE BSP is available immediately, priced at $4450. Also available is a Linux version, based on a 2.6.17 kernel, for $3650. The company says the kit includes 12 months of free technical support and software updates, plus a 24-month hardware warranty.
