Pentium III squeezes onto PC/104

Eurotech has released two PC/104-Plus SBCs with 800MHz Pentium III processors. The CPU-1462 features four USB 2.0 ports, while the CPU-1464 boasts gigabit Ethernet. Both use "unique construction techniques" facilitating structural heat dissipation into the enclosure, and are suitable for extended-temperature and vehicular use, Eurotech says.

Both SBCs (single-board computers) boast 800MHz Intel Pentium III processors with 512KB L2 caches and 133MHz buses. Both are based on Intel's 815E chipset, and include 256MB of soldered-on SDRAM.

Eurotech says that with proper structural heat dissipation techniques, the boards are suitable for standard or extended temperature range operation, as well as vehicle installations requiring resistance to temperature extremes, shocks, and vibration.

The CPU-1462 model features four high-speed USB 2.0 ports suitable for mass storage devices, cameras, and other high-performance peripherals. It targets mobile real-time computation-intensive video and multimedia processing, and high-speed industrial data acquisition and control.

The CPU-1464, meanwhile, boasts a Gigabit Ethernet interface, and targets networking and communication systems.

Both boards offer a variety of standard PC I/O, including four USB1.1 ports suitable for keyboards, mice, and serial port expansion.

The SBCs support Windows CE, Windows XP Embedded, and Linux, among other "standard OSes," according to the company. Additionally, a development system is available to speed up operating system and application software development and integration, as well as hardware testing.

Availability

The CPU-1462 and CPU-1464 both appear to be available now. Pricing was not disclosed.
