i-Mate brings new Windows Mobile devices to the Americas

i-mate will soon ship two new Windows Mobile 5 handsets in the Americas, the company announced at CES on Jan. 8 The PDAL (left) and JAQ3 with full-QWERTY keyboard (right), appear to share a common platform and many common features.

The quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE devices both feature WiFi and Bluetooth wireless along with a 2 Mpixel camera. Other key features and specifications common to both the PDAL and JAQ3 are said to include:

Processor -- TI OMAP 850, clocked at 200 MHz
Memory -- 64 MB RAM, 128 MB flash
Display -- 2.4-inch QVGA TFT LCD with backlight and toucscreen
I/O ports:
- USB 1.1 connection and power cgarging
- SIM card slot
- audio jack
Expansion -- micro-SD slot
Wireless:
- Quad-band (850/900/1800/1900 MHz) GSM/GPRS/EDGE, GPRS class 10
- 802.11b/g WiFi
- Bluetooth v1.2, class 2 transmit power
- supported profiles -- generic access, serial port, object push, dial-up networking (DUN), hands-free, generic object exchange, A2DP, AVRCP, HID, SAP, BIP, ActiveSync
Camera -- 2 Mpixel, 4X digital zoom, video capable

Additionally, both devices come with built-in i-mate Suite device management and file sharing software.

The JAQ3 boasts a 39-key QWERTY keyboard along with a scroll wheel and several dedicated function buttons. It measures 5 x 2.7 x 0.7 inches (126 x 68 x 15 mm) and weighs 160 g (includes battery pack).

The PDAL, meanwhile, lacks the QWERTY-style keyboard. It measures 4.4 x 2.2 x 0.67 inches (112 x 56 x 17 mm) and weighs 116 g (includes battery pack).

Both devices are expected to be available by the end of this month, according to i-mate. Pricing was not disclosed.
