Panasonic has introduced a rugged wireless tablet running Windows CE. The Toughbook CF08 boasts a large, 10.4-inch XGA-resolution color touchscreen display, provides both wired and wireless networking, and targets indoor and outdoor applications in industrial, retail, healthcare, and hospitality environments.

According to the company, the CF08 features a drop-, dust-, and water-resistant design, along with a "bright" display that can be viewed both indoors and outdoors. The device provides both wired and wireless networking connections, and can be equipped with magnetic stripe reader and a fingerprint scanner options, making it a flexible tool for mobile data capture, entry, and access in a wide range of applications.
 The CF08 is protected from shock, vibration, dust, and moisture
Using industry-standard protocols such as Citrix ICA and Microsoft RDP, the handheld tablet can communicate securely with a laptop or multi-client WLAN system, according to the company. Supported wireless security authentication methods are said to include WPA, WPA2, EAP-TLS, PEAP, TKIP, and LEAP.
