 The Taiwanese company Mobinnova has announced a Windows Mobile 6.1 phone with a custom user interface, vibratory feedback, and dual displays. The "ICE" includes a 528MHz processor, 128MB of RAM, 256MB of flash storage, dual cameras, GPS, and an FM receiver, the company says.

Though Mobinnova may be an unfamiliar name to most, the company is reportedly the manufacturer behind i-mate's Ultimate 8502 and 9502, Windows Mobile phones that feature slide-out QWERTY keyboards and can output video to external monitors. In addition, Mobinnova will collaborate with Sony Ericsson to produce a successor to the latter's Xperia X1 (right), a December report on Taiwan's Digitimes website claimed.
Be that as it may, the ICE appears to be an interesting device in its own right. The phone is said to feature a three-inch touchscreen display, offering both "haptic" vibratory feedback to finger presses, plus an accelerometer that automatically changes the screen from portrait to landscape modes. In addition, what initially appears to be a standard five-way controller is actually a secondary touchscreen display, using OLED (organic light emitting diode) technology.

According to Mobinnova, the secondary display has a resolution of 128 x 96 pixels. As pictured above, its labels can change between navigation, media playback, and camera-taking modes. In addition, the ICE offers a custom "MobiFlow" user interface, the company says.
Underneath this interesting skin, the ICE runs Windows Mobile 6.1, on a 528MHz Qualcomm MSM7201 processor. The device offers 128MB of RAM, 256GB of flash storage, and a microSD slot for memory expansion, says Mobinnova.
The ICE's wireless capabilities are said to include quad-band (850/900/1800/1900MHz) GSM and tri-band (900/1900/2100MHz) WCDMA cellular capabilties. Via HSDPA (high speed downlink packet access), the phone is claimed to download data at up to 7.2Mbps, and upload at up to 2MBps via HSUPA (high speed uplink packet access). Meanwhile, the device also includes WiFi, Bluetooth, and GPS, Mobinnova adds.
The ICE has a three megapixel main camera with autofocus, plus a secondary VGA-resolution camera for video conferencing. Other multimedia capabilities listed by Mobinnova include an FM receiver, plus the ability to send composite video and audio to a TV set. The latter functionality apparently requires an adapter cable that fits into the phone's mini-USB port.
