Motorola unveiled a pair of mobile handsets based on Microsoft's Windows Mobile embedded software platforms, today at the 3GSM World Congress in Cannes, France. Both devices -- the MPx and the MPx100 -- are part of Motorola's MOTOPro mobile handset family, which targets "mobile professionals."
The MPx is a dual-hinge device that opens both lengthways as a clamshell phone, and in landscape mode for use as an "email device." It provides a wide screen and full QWERTY keyboard, Motorola says. Other key features include GSM/GPRS communications, continuous connectivity via both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth wireless, and a built-in 1.3 megapixel camera.
The MPx100 is a tri-band GSM/GPRS handset that provides built-in Bluetooth wireless technology for both data- and voice-centric communications along with Wi-Fi (802.11b) wireless networking via an optional accessory. The device also includes a built-in 1.3 megapixel camera and can be expanded up to 512MB of storage memory via its mini SD card slot. Its Pocket Internet Explorer browser supports HTML, WAP 2.0, and GPRS functions.
