Everex has introduced a tablet computer running Windows CE 4.2 on an Intel XScale processor. The compact, lightweight device is targeted primarily at health care applications, according to the Italian company. The tablet's embedded motherboard is also available as an OEM product, with Windows CE pre-installed.

Everex lists the following key features and specifications for the Windows CE based Tablet PC:

Processor -- Intel PXA255 at 200 MHz
Memory:
- RAM -- 64 MB standard, 128 MB optional
- Strata Flash -- 32 MB standard, 64 MB optional
Display:
- 10.4-inch TFT LCD
- 800x600 resolution, 65K colors
- 4-wire resistive touchscreen
Expansion -- two CompactFlash slots:
- One internal (non-accessible), for communication options
- One external, user accessible, for additional storage
I/O ports:
- 3 USB -- 1 host, 2 client
- 3 serial ports
Wired/wireless networking options, via internal CompactFlash card:
- Ethernet
- 802.11b (Wi-Fi) wireless
Dimensions -- 305 x 214 x 42 mm (12 x 8.4 x 1.6 inches)
Weight -- 1.5 kg

Everex also supplies the tablet computer's embedded motherboard as an SBC (single board computer) for custom applications. The board comes with Windows CE 4.2 pre-installed along with drivers for Ethernet, 802.11b, and GPRS CompactFlash adapters, according to the company.

In addition to the specifications noted above for the tablet computer, the company lists the following specifications for the PXA255 SBC:

- Epson S1D13806 graphics controller
- Resolution:
  - 800x600 at 65K colors
  - 1024 x768 at 256 colors
- TTL and LVDS outputs for LCDs
- 15-pin VGA connector for CRTs
3 RS-232 ports, one configurable as RS-485
- COM1 -- DB9 connector
- COM2, COM3 -- 8-pin RJ45 connectors
Dimensions -- 200 x 154 x 25 mm (7.8 x 6 x 1 inches)
Power -- 5V DC, at 250-300 mA (typ.)

The second CompactFlash slot -- the external slot in Everex's Tablet PC -- is available on the expansion module shown here, which connects to main board via a flat cable. One USB client is also accessible on this board.
