| Japanese Windows Mobile phone offers worldwide 3G |

Japanese carrier Softbank has released an HTC-manfactured Windows Mobile 6 phone that features 3G/HSDPA connectivity and a slide-out keyboard. The X03HT also includes WiFi wireless networking, Bluetooth, dual cameras, a 2.4-inch display, and "picture letter" capabilities, according to the company.

The X03HT features GSM/GPRS/EDGE quad-band (850/900/1800/1900MHz) capabilities, along with 2100MHz HSDPA/UMTS. Softbank says the phone can operate worldwide, downloading data at up to 3.6Mbps on suitable networks.
The device features 802.11b/g wireless networking and Bluetooth 2.0. It can stream music in stereo to a compatible Bluetooth headset.
 Softbank's X03HT operates in portrait and landscape modes As the picture above shows, the X03HT has not only a five-way navigation pad, but also a slide-out QWERTY keyboard with 31 keys. When the keyboard has been deployed, the phone's 2.4-inch, 320 x 240 display switches into landscape mode automatically.
Also included in the phone -- which comes in red, black, or white -- are dual cameras. A forward-facing two megapixel camera is included for photography, while a VGA-resolution camera can be used for videoconferencing or impromptu self-portraits.
The phone has a 400MHz Qualcomm MSM7200 processor, along with 64MB of RAM and 256MB of flash. Storage can be expanded via a microSD slot.
Finally, the X03HT includes a Japanese version of Windows Mobile 6 Standard. It includes the usual email, web browsing, and Office document viewing capabilities, to which Softbank has added Adobe Reader, plus its own S! Mail program for sending "picture letters."

While it used to be common practice for carriers to hide the origins of their phones, Softbank cites the X03HT as being "HTC-made." In fact, aside from its coloring and software, the phone closely resembles the S730 HTC introduced in January.
Availability
Pricing for the X03HT was not cited, but the phone will be available in Japan at the end of this month, according to Softbank.
