| Mot aims Windows Mobile-based Q Pro at enterprises |

 Motorola unveiled a new version of its Windows Mobile-based Q smartphone, featuring expanded enterprise-level functionality, at CES in Las Vegas this week. The Moto Q Pro boasts enhanced security software, document editing capabilities, call center support, and extended battery life, among other enterprise-oriented features.
The Moto Q, characterized by Motorola as "wickedly cool" when it was released in mid-2005, was one of the first devices to run Window Mobile 5. According to Kevin Goulet, Motorola's director of Product Management for Enterprise Mobility, the Q Pro's upgrades are a "direct result of enterprise customer feedback," resulting in "a package of features to enhance the Motorola Q user experience and provide added device security, document editing options and the accessories needed to extend user mobility."
 The Q Pro adds the ability to edit Microsoft Word documents directly on the device, using Documents to Go from DataViz. Documents to Go also supports viewing -- but not editing -- Excel and PowerPoint files, and Abode PDF documents, according to a report at Smart Device Central.
According to Motorola, included Mobile Security Platform software protects the Q Pro against hackers and other attacks, via personal firewall and intrusion detection functionality. Other security features are said to include selective or complete data encryption, data wiping, and real-time event logging, support for enterprise VPNs, and a password protection feature (in case the device is lost or stolen).
To simplify enterprise deployment of the Q, Motorola has created an enterprise-specific order portal that allows customers to specify device functionality based on IT policies and purchasing processes. Staging services enable preloading authorized software, inserting company-specific user instructions in the product box, and shipping devices directly to end users.

EV-DO (Evolution-Data Optimized) for high-speed data access
- Connectivity -- Bluetooth; IrDA; mini-USB
- Multimedia -- runs Microsoft Windows Media Player 10 Mobile and supports popular music and video file formats(e.g., MP3, AAC, WAV, WMV, MIDI, MPEG-4, H.263)
