Rohde & Schwarz claims its new vector network analyzer is the world's first to handle 8 ports simultaneously at frequencies up to 8 GHz. Running Windows XP Embedded, the ZVT8 is equipped with both a measurement and reference receiver at each of its eight test ports, so it can perform measurements at all ports of a multiport component or DUT simultaneously. This yields very short measurement times plus a wide dynamic range and high measurement accuracy, "especially as compared with network analyzer systems based on switching matrices," according to the company.

The R&S ZVT8 features a wide dynamic range of more than 120 dB, a maximum output power of higher than 13 dBm at all test ports, and an electronic level sweep range of 50 dB. For use in production environments, it provides a number of special features to speed up complex, remote-controlled test sequences via its IEC/IEEE bus and LAN interfaces. The analyzer also features a user control port for controlling test sequences and external devices of production systems, thus eliminating the need for an external controller.

Wide power sweep range - 40 dBm to 13 dBm
High measurement speed of 8 ms for an eight port measurement
High accuracy and reproducibility on all ports
Quick and easy configuration of multiport measurements
Virtually unlimited number of channels and traces
DC inputs for current and voltage measurements
Direct Receiver/Generator Access option for greater flexibility and performance
Comprehensive calibration techniques –- TOSM, TNA, TRL, TRM, TOM, waveguide calibration
