MP2 Solutions is shipping a new "all-in-one," wireless-capable handheld POS (point-of-sales) terminal running Windows CE 5.0. The multifunction MRT300 series terminal combines mobile data collection and communications functions, and targets applications in retail POS, field sales and support, mobile operations, and data collection, according to the company.

The MRT300 is based on a 520MHz PXA270 XScale processor, and is equipped with 128MB each of RAM and flash memory, MP2 says. The "durably" packaged device is available in a range of models that include an embedded barcode scanner, an on-board thermal printer, an integrated three-track magnetic stripe-reader, and built-in 802.11 g/b wireless communications, depending on model. According to MP2, the MRT300 series handheld terminals can be used to "complete transactions, check inventory, take payments, deliver goods, print receipts and report progress to headquarters in a timely fashion." As a result, the device provides mobile-oriented enterprises with the ability to "gain real-time, actionable information that translates into better field operations management, trend response, and sales productivity."

Availability
The MRT300 series terminal is immediately available, priced "around $1,250," according to the company. The device is on display in MP2's booth at the National Retail Federation (NRF) 2007 Annual Convention and Expo in New York City this week.
