| Windows CE-based PMPs boast GPS, DTV |

 Yukyung has announced a pair of related portable media players (PMPs) that run Windows CE, receive digital TV, and have built-in GPS. The Viliv P2 NAVI is hard-disk based and can double as a PDA, while the X2 uses SDHC (secure digital high capacity) storage.
Both the P2 NAVI and X2 interate SiRF's starIII GPS architecture, which can track more than 20 satellites. Yukyung claims the sensitive receiver can provide reliable navigation even in crowded urban landscapes.

Both units also feature integral receivers for T-DMB (terrestrial digital multimedia broadcasting) television channels, such as Korea's KBS, SBS, and YTN. On the P2 NAVI, Yukyung says, broadcasts can be recorded to the unit's 30 GB (standard) or 60 GB (optional) internal hard drive.

The P2 NAVI gains other capabilities from its hard drive. For example, an Adobe Flash Lite-based menu (see first picture, below) allows switching to the full Windows CE 5.0 desktop, including access to Outlook, Internet Explorer, Office-compatible viewers, and other typical functions.

A switch on the upper right-hand edge apparently lets the unit boot into either Windows CE (upper picture, below) or Linux with Trolltech's Qtopia mobile application framework (lower picture, below).

The relatively simplified X2 retains Windows CE 5.0 at the core but is operated only by Yukyung's customized menus. An SDHC-compatible slot is said to accept up to 8 GB of flash-based storage.
