Aug. 19, 2005

This is BlueShark's third new thin client release this summer. The company unveiled the Apriza 5700 on June 15 and the 5600 on June 22.

The Apriza 5800 comes equipped with 128 MB DRAM (expandable to 512 MB) and 32 MB of IDE Flash memory; an auto-sensing 10/100 Mbit Ethernet port; two USB Version 2.0 ports; and one serial port. It has a built-in speaker and uses a DVI interface to drive the LCD screen.

The Apriza 5800 supports ICA Version 8.33 and RDP Version 5.2 communications protocols for Windows Terminal Server connectivity, and it offers a wide array of terminal emulations. Thus, it allows users to connect to remote applications hosted on a wide range of server environments including Windows, Linux, and Unix.

The Apriza 5800 also includes Internet Explorer 6.0 for browsing the Internet. The device's internal software can be upgraded via FTP, and the company also provides SharkPro Manager remote management software, it says.

Further details are available from the company's website.
