Sealevel Systems is shipping a new line of LCD touchscreen computers targeting industrial control, machine interface, and point-of-sale applications. The SeaPAC systems run Windows XP Embedded on 1GHz Celeron M processor and are offered with screens ranging from 6.4 to 17 inches, according to the company.

The system boots its operating software from a CompactFlash card, and is completely fanless, enabling it to operate in harsh environments. A high-temperature hard drive is offered as an option. The SeaPAC systems are powered by 12VDC, and support 0 to 50 degrees C operation.

Standard input/output ports on the SeaPAC systems include 10/100Base-T Ethernet, two serial ports, and three high-speed USB 2.0 ports.

For additional I/O, the system supports Sealevel's SeaI/O family data acquisition modules. Available interfaces include reed and Form C relays, optically isolated inputs, TTL, A/D, and D/A, according to the company. The R1000 communicates with the SeaI/O modules via Modbus RTU, allowing one or more SeaI/O modules to be physically attached to the system or located up to 4000 feet away.

The SeaPAC systems include a rugged panel-mount bezel that provides Nema 4/IP65 protection from sprayed liquids on the front surface, according to the company. A resistive touchscreen is available as an option. A VESA mounting bracket can be used to attach the system to a mounting arm.

"Windows XP Embedded is a perfect operating system choice for SeaPAC systems," Sealevel says. The company offers assistance with "efficiently transferring customer applications" to the system's Windows XP Embedded platform.

The SeaPAC systems are priced from $1795, and are available immediately from stock, according to the company.
