| Windows Mobile phone is packed with features |
Oct. 10, 2007
E-Ten has introduced a Windows Mobile 6-based handset with a touchscreen VGA display and a slide-out keyboard. The "Glofiish" M700 also features an "auto-macro" camera, multimedia features, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, and more.

The only apparent difference between the M700 and the previously released Glofiish X500+ (shown on the right) is the former's slide-out keyboard, which has LED-backlit keys and a QWERTY layout. The M700 is just slightly bigger and heavier, adding 0.7 ounces to the X500+'s 5.1-ounce weight.
The M700 squeezes its high resolution into a 2.8-inch display, so its overall physical dimensions are in line with other phones. The company says the device provides high-quality photos of each caller, if stored, as part of its caller ID functionality.
The device's 2 megapixel camera is said to have both four-times digital zoom and an auto-macro function that helps capture images at close distances. According to E-Ten, the included Namecard Manager software lets users photograph a business card, then uses OCR technology to identify and extract contact information, "adding it to the device's contact's list in just a few easy steps."
The quad-band GSM/EDGE mobile phone is built around a 400 MHz Samsung SC32442 processor and comes equipped with 64 MB of DRAM and 128 MB of flash memory. A microSD expansion slot allows what E-Ten calls "unlimited storage."
For its GPS receiver, the M700 uses the popular SiRF starIII chipset. As deployed here, it's said to offer SiRF's "Instant Fix" ephemeris extension feature, and to receive Traffic Message Channel (TMC) broadcasts where available.
Like other Windows Mobile 6 devices, the Glofiish M700 supports direct push email, and comes with mobile versions of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint.
