 Samsung has announced a Windows Mobile 6.1 phone it touts as being among the world's thinnest and lightest. The i200 is under half an inch thick, weighs 3.6 ounces, has a 2.3-inch QVGA screen, includes Bluetooth 2.0, and features a two-megapixel camera.

Apparently designed for simplicity as well as compactness, the i200 eschews features such as wireless networking, a QWERTY keyboard, or a touchscreeen display. Instead, it is a basic "candybar" design that must be operated via its five-way controller, numeric keypad, and six dedicated function keys. Fortunately for the user, the standard edition of Windows Mobile 6.1 now adds cut, copy, and paste functionality to non-touchscreen devices.
Variously pictured in black or blue, the i200's case measures 4.6 x 2 x 0.46 inches. An included light sensor automatically dims backlighting on both the keyboard and the 2.3-inch QVGA screen, helping to extend battery life. The device can standby for up to 360 hours, and provides four hours of talk time, the company claims.
Samsung did not release word of the i200's processor, though this could well be one of the company's own ARM-based products, such as the 400MHz S3C2440. The device includes 64MB of RAM, 128MB of flash storage, and is also expandable via a microSD slot.
For connectivity, the i200 brings tri-band GSM (900/1800/1900MHz) and 2100MHz WCDMA to the party. It can download data at up to 3.6Mbps via HSDPA, Samsung says. The device also includes a two megapixel camera, Bluetooth 2.0, and a USB port.
