.NET control creates data trees on mobile devices
Oct. 03, 2007

Resco has added a .NET control that lets Visual Studio programmers display data in a tree-like structure. The "AdvancedTree .NET control" is an upgrade to Resco's MobileForms Toolkit package, which contains ten other controls specifically designed for mobile devices, according to the company.

Like the other controls in the company's toolkit package, the AdvancedTree .NET control is optimized for .NET Compact Framework 2.0 and integrates into Visual Studio 2005, Resco says. It offers a pre-designed NodeTemplate that can display text, links, or images. It also supports the DelayLoad functionality, which can be utilized to display large amounts of data in a short time, according to the company.

Data is organized in the form of a tree whose nodes can easily be expanded or collapsed, the company explains. All data is displayed in such a way that only a vertical scroll bar is needed, adds Resco.

According to Vladimir Gregor, component developer, "Displaying child rows in the AdvancedList .NET control is a feature we have been asked for really often by our customers. That's why we decided to create the AdvancedTree .NET control that is able to display data organized in a tree."

The other controls included in the MobileForms Tookit package, as listed by Resco, are:
  • AdvancedList .NET -- a list control suitable for small displays on mobile devices
  • DetailView .NET -- "elegant and quick" way of creating user input forms
  • SmartGrid .NET -- a grid control with built-in auto edit capabilities
  • OutlookShortcutBar .NET -- a shortcut control, common to all modern applications
  • OutlookWeekCalendar .NET -- a day/week appointment scheduling control
  • OutlookMonthCalendar .NET -- month/year scheduling control
  • OutlookDateTimePicker .NET -- modern version of common control, providing advanced styles
  • InkBox .NET -- ink control suitable for quick notes or signatures
  • CompactChart .NET -- charting control supporting 5 chart types
  • Zip .NET -- an industry standard compression library
Availability

Resco says the AdvancedTree .NET control is now available as a part of the MobileForms Toolkit package. The package is priced around $400 for a Standard Edition, $800 for a Professional Edition, and $2000 for an Enterprise Edition, including 1 year of free support and upgrades.

A free trial edition is also available. For more information, see the company's website, here.
